Only later, when I wanted to expand the way I marketed, printed, and distributed my books, and to develop ongoing relationships with my readers, did I fully appreciate the long-term consequences of some of those decisions.
To ISBN or Not to ISBN? grew out of that experience.
It explains what I learned, corrects some common misunderstandings about ISBNs, and gives independent authors a practical framework for deciding whether to accept a free ISBN or purchase their own.
